Alvecote Marina
Up and away bright and early to get a bit nearer to Atherstone. Must admit being on the move at 8.30 in the morning has been a pleasant experience as nothing was moving. We didn't start to see other boats until around 10.30. We had intermittent showers on the way but we were prepared with our wetties already on. Passed Fazley Junction and when we got to Glascote Locks the sun was out and yet again we were sweating in our wet gear (some women pay loads to loose weight this way). A couple of boats that were in front of us pulled over for their lunch but being the roughy toughy boaters we are we just kept going. Now we have been this way before so have a good idea of the decent moorings so the aim was Alvecote and as luck would have it there was a nice space with our name on it just before Narrowcraft boat builders. We have done 5 hours today which is enough maybe we could have got to Atherstone locks but couldn't face another few hours so we will be up with the lark (or the first Virgin train) for another early start in the morning. Have to make a few phone calls as we have a cover for our top box in the process of being made by Johns Canopies (he made our pram cover) and the idea was to meet him in Tamworth but as we have already gone through that we will have to rethink where will be convenient to us both. At the moment the travel pack is a priority.
