After much discussion this morning we decided we would leave filling the water tank and disposing of the rubbish etc until we got to Fradley junction and I was really glad that we did, as we came out onto the T & M there were boats double moored on the water point so we would have had no chance of reversing up. Haywood lock and Colwich lock worked well as boats were coming up and there were boats behind us so plenty of helpers at each lock. Shopping list written out for when we got to Rugley, that was a laugh we couldn't even moor up at Rugley the place was packed. When we asked a passing boater if there were any spaces he had said he had just left but of course we couldn't fit in the empty mooring and a to add insult to injury a boat coming in the opposite direction could see we were struggling but still came through at a rate of knots, we were willing him to hit the bridge but he didn't, by this time we had run aground. By now Paul was spitting feathers and I was told in no uncertain terms to get on “the bloody boat”. So we have cupboards that are nearly empty and a ways to go before I can top up.
We had only gone about 10 minutes out of Rugley when we seemed to be going backwards so we pulled in under a bridge and Paul went down the weed hatch finding this round the prop.
No its not a kite it is an UMBRELLA complete with spokes and handle, no wonder we weren't going anywhere. As he surfaced from the weed hatch Paul commented “ I’ve had my arm down this weed hatch more times than a vet has had his arm up a cows arse” has a way with words my husband.
By this time the heavens had opened and yet again we got WET. To say we had had enough was an understatement so we pulled in along the stretch opposite Hawkesyard Priory, never stopped here before so this is a first for us, at least there is a pub a short walk away. Tomorrow I have to do the sprint along the narrow that was the Armitage tunnel think we will have an early start as we aim to get to Fradley.
Paul took these pictures of a boat going past us last evening, I know it is wide along stretches at Tixall but this was just ridiculous.
The wake even came over the armco.
Lets hope tomorrow is less fraught.

We try to keep away from this canal. As for Fradley junc no thanks
Hi Both
If you're desperate for supplies there's a "local supermarket", maybe a Londis, up in Armitage. Through the "tunnel", the narrows below the church, round the bend under the railway and there are offside moorings between the factories. Take the footpath and turn left on the main road.
1. "Spittin feathers", Paul, don't eat the bird, give it!
2.Paul, don't moan about a COMPLETE Umbrella, repair it!
3. Accept my sympathy, atleast a "cows arse" is warm & soft!
4. "Sprinting along the Armitage tunnel", I need my camera!
5.Now that is what I call a wake, my moarners, take note, nothing less!!
Tee Hee! Love it,keep it comming.
