Bit the bullet this morning and left the mooring around 8.15. The weather was sunny and not too windy in fact we made good progress. Up the two Glascote locks and although the wind had picked up we thought “we are on the move so sod it”. As we went through Alvecote marina a boat came toward us with its canopy up “Why?” it was acting like a sail still that was their problem not ours. By this time we had a boat behind us so as we approached Polesworth we let him pass, assumed he was trying to get to Atherstone locks by the 12 o'clock deadline. We had decided to moor up for the night by bridge 50 which is a nice country mooring. We got here at 12 and aren't going any further today.
Tomorrow we will use the services at b48 and then get the locks done in one hit, we may be able to make up some of the time we lost by not moving yesterday. Thursday looks to be the calmest day so we will get a few miles under our belt then. Pauls brother and sister in law are going to be in Rugby on Sunday as Sandy is an avid lace maker and there is an exhibition in Rugby (one of only 2 in the country) on Sunday so hopefully we will be able to meet up with them then. Its been a few years so there will be lots to talk about.
