As usual Paul sat on the back fishing last night. There was one “that got away” quite a big fish by the way the rod was bending so Paul was a bit disappointed with that. About half an hour later I got “the shout” and had to rush, well saunter up to the back of the boat to look at the next big catch. Well, it was no fish as such but this blooming eel, now I hate the things alive or in jelly and I certainly don't know how any one can eat them. As you can see it was quite a big one, but in this case size didn't matter and I told Paul to get it back in the canal pretty darn quick.
Horrible thing.
We didn't leave too early this morning as we weren't in a rush to get any where. there were plenty of boats heading for Audlem passing us from 6.30 am onwards. Of course as we set off for the the two Hack Green locks the world and his dog appeared all going our way one of these being nb Chance who we saw at Wheaton Aston heading in the opposite direction no wonder they said “is this as far as you have got”, at least there were as many boats coming up as going down so it worked out fine.
As expected Nantwich was very busy and we didn't even look for a mooring having made up our mind to travel through and find somewhere peaceful. We saw nb Tranquility but Betty and Graham were with the thousands who were attending the show, at least it was a nice day for it.
We finally moored up just before bridge 96 in a nice wide spot and out in the country.
Nothing behind.
Or in front.
View from the side hatch doors cant get much better than this.
No doubt a lot of you have read about the awful things that have happened to Tom and Jan on nb Waiouru courtesy of Ben Harp and his missus there is another boat nb Dutch barge Trudy-Ann who have also had mega problems with these two and no doubt there are a few others. We thought we had had a bad time but ours pales into insignificance compared to these people. I only hope Ben Harp gets his comeuppance.
Only 17 miles to Chester think we will go slow and get there Monday!
