Yesterday around 5 there was a tooting sound behind and who should appear round the corner but Betty and Graham. Was lovely to see them again and after a few bevvies were sank it was a very late evening meal. This morning we weren't quick to leave and we had a pleasant journey to the staircase pair ant Bunbury. Was a bit busy at Barbridge junction but it is quite narrow there. Had another run in with a Tupperware boat called Happy Days who seems to go everywhere at warp speed and never slows down for man or beast. Luckily we saw him coming through the trees and went into reverse and just avoided hitting a moored boat. Of course there is no apology or eye contact think next time we will keep our course and let him hit us I know who would come off worse.
We passed a couple of boats with very large chimneys don't know what the reason for that is.
When we got to the staircase pair at Bunbury it was chaos. For a start above the lock Anglo Welsh boats were all double moored so, as there was a boat in front of us waiting to go down I had to cross 2 hire boats to get to the bank, Betty had the same problem too. There seemed to be about 20 people hanging about at the lock with 2 boats coming up with kids working the paddles and the adults chatting. once this lot were through we got the next lot down one boat which had 3 young lads on it and who watched Betty and I struggle with the paddles got short shrift from me, bloody cheek there were 2 of the lads sat on the roof of the boat with a beer in their hand sorry I just had to say something.
Once we were away it wasn't too bad although the next 3 locks were hard work and both boats had trouble getting out of the locks as they got stuck on the bottom.
At the iron lock as we had to go in singly Graham went in first then he had to cruise on to find a nice mooring for us both which he did just below the lock. So this is this evenings view from the side hatch doors.
There has been a couple of Buzzards over head and these are upsetting the rest of the bird population here.
Don’t think we could have gone any further today we are cream crackered.

I went to see a friend of mine on his boat and the boat moored next to them had a large Chimney. The owner told me he had an Aga on board or was it a range? Can't remember but it was one of the two and he said he needed the longer chimney as it needed a larger draught
Hi, great blog! To answer your question about chimneys, the first boat Emily-Anne is steam powered, the second Turnothworld is a replica of a boat that was originally steam powered before being convered to diesel, hence the big chimneys on both.
