Fenny Compton

Here we are at Fenny Compton travelled the short distance from our weekend mooring this morning in the lovely sunshine. We took the first mooring spot we came across didn't want to risk going under the bridge and finding there was no room for us. We needed some bread and milk and as the Wharf Inn had a board outside that says it sells provisions we popped in on the off chance they would have those two items. Otherwise it would mean a mile walk to the Co-op. As luck would have it I bought the last loaf (frozen but not a problem) and the last of the milk (full fat but who cares about that) was a bit pricey but it saved us a walk so we were able to sit and have a swift half. This pub is trying its hardest to keep its head above water (no pun intended) they now have a launderette, they sell coal and gas as well as the basic food. There is a camping and caravan site, only down side here is no elsan disposal unless there is one on the camping site. The marina charge you £2 to empty your cassette which we begrudge paying, as we have 3 cassettes we can hang on until we get to Cropredy. Oh yes, also in the pub they sell some lovely herbs, spices, diferent varities of teas and oils all at reasonable prices. Spices 100g for either a £1 or £1.50 depending on which you buy.
We had to go down to the marina as we seem to have lost one of our mooring chains, Paul insists that some one has pinched it as there were two on the back of the boat, but why take one when there were two on view. Any way we have replaced the lost one and will make sure in future they are put away.
It has been such a lovely day today spring like at last, warm in the sun so the washing is now drying nicely in the fresh air. Have decided that we are going to treat ourselves tonight and go to the pub for a meal, saves me cooking which is a bonus.
