Yesterday saw us off to the hospital for Pauls appointment and I am pleased to say that every thing was fine so at least he can stop worrying about his health.
In the afternoon the engineer came with a new lift pump fitted it and every thing was honky dory. Engine ran as sweet as a nut, perfect, or so we thought. After the engine had been running for about 45 mins the same problem reared its ugly head, lack of power. So, we are back to square one.
Paul is getting really stressed out now but I am sure there a some people out there who are laughing up their sleeves at our predicament.
I would like to thank our friends who have stayed with us, but now have to move as their black tank needs emptying. Our other friends who are at Braunston have offered to come here to be with us but at the end of the day there is nothing they can do. It is at times like this that you appreciate the help and support of your mates so thank you Ann and Keith and Betty and Graham the drinks are on us when we finally get together again.
LATEST UPDATE
LOOK MUM NO AIR NO LEAKS
Paul was up early this morning took the dogs for a walk in the dark and by 8am he was working on the engine. He had slept on it and decided to do his own thing. Every line and joint was checked out and the only thing that hadn't been scrutinised was the filter housing, Del was out for a walk and decided to give us a knock to see how things were going. Deep discussion took place as to the next plan of attack. They decided to bypass the filter housing with plastic pipe, the system was bled through and the engine burst into life. The plastic pipe was showing no signs of air only pure clean diesel.
The engine was left running for approx 1 hour 25 minutes on load (bearing in mind before it would only run for about 40 minutes before petering out) at 700 revs and every 10 minutes the throttle was opened to make sure the power was available he found that the engine did not falter. During this time the filter housing was put under close inspection, a fault was found and Beta were informed and hence a new part is winging its way to us. This should arrive tomorrow morning.
After the engine running time it was shut down 2 hours later the engine was restarted still with the temporary line in place and all appears to be working perfectly. The engine has now been running for 1 hour 23 minutes to charge the batteries and hasn't faltered one iota.
Thanks Del for all your help two heads were better than one. Of course thanks to Beta for all their help and support. They have been very interested in this in case the fault rears it ugly head on another engine.

Those sort of faults are so annoying. You have my sympathies. In spite of this hiccup , Beta engines are great. Reliable and efficient - and of course no smoke.
Well done Paul - persistence pays. You must be feeling greatly relieved!!!

If it transpires it's not the filter, run the engine for an hour and take the fuel filler cap off while it's running, and see if there is a vacuum or suction when removed.I had the same problem on a diesel car and it was a blocked fuel tank vent.
thanks to you all and yes dave it is definatley the filter housing
Well now thats two items of good news today. (Your health, and the health of the engine). That was a tough one to find. ATB!
