Lovely day!

What can I say, today has been lovely, too nice to sit about doing nothing. So this morning Paul got the paint out and I got the bucket, chamois and wax.

Paul set to painting the deck boards and the steps while I got stuck in with cleaning and the waxing. Now I don't know how it was me doing this little job as I have told Paul the outside is his job but I just couldn't sit and not be doing anything so tow path side is now nice and shiny. There was a bit of a down side to my efforts as in the process of the waxing I came across this.

Now prior to the paint job Paul gave clear instructions that he wanted all the redundant holes welded and ground down this was also on the scope of works, we were told that this would be done, during the undercoat stage Paul again asked the question “have the holes been welded up” and was told that they had been, well, obviously they weren't. This is two of many where weld has not been used but have been filled with Bondo hence the filler has shrunk (weld doesnt shrink) leaving indentations in the paintwork, not too clever is it. The other side is the same and on closer inspection other holes that should have been welded are on their way to being in the same state. Why is it that people say they have done something when they clearly haven't. Of course, it is because its what we wanted to hear and the filler route was the easier option, wonder how long it will be before the filler pops out entirely and leaves bloody holes every where? Also where the hinges were altered on the hatch the grind marks are in the new paint work and left like this.

Nice bit of rust, another job for Paul to sort out.

The engine room side hatch doors water channel is as you can see growing rust on investigation they are only covered in an overspray, these will have to be rubbed down undercoated and top coated.

The way things are going this boat will need repainting next year.

Paul was happy with what he has done

Originally the treads were just sanded and varnished but Paul decided they would look better with the treads green and for once I have to agree with him.

Deck boards drying in the sun these were still in the original paint colour and were never painted with the rest of the boat.

Even time for a spot of fishing not that he caught anything. Saffi was enjoying herself

and so was Crystal.

It has been so quiet here that over the past few days only 3 people have walked past the boat and the boat traffic is the same just the odd boat every so often, just how we like it.
