Ok, own up which one of you has a voodoo doll they are sticking pins in to wind us up.
Today we left our mooring opposite the park in Rugby got as far as the road bridge and there in front of us was a hire boat stuck across the canal. They had tried to wind opposite the pub and got well and truly stuck. We sat for a while as the help arrived for these poor souls, when Paul heard one of the chaps on the phone asking for a dry suit we knew it was time to reverse to whence we had come. So we moored up in the same spot we had left 30 minutes earlier. Paul went along to see what was going on (okay so he was being nosey) came back after about an hour to say that 2 trolleys and an iron gate were jammed under the boat and that was why they couldn't move it. Offending articles were hauled onto the tow path and hire boat set on its way to the right winding hole by Willow Wren. We pulled in at the tap to fill up as we were virtually empty of water. Just as we came onto the water point the engine died, I managed to get hold of Paul before he completely lost it and leapt into the canal. Mind you I felt exactly the same. Bit of revving and the engine picked up again, as the washing was on we left the engine running. Once full of water we went up to wind and made our way to Hillmorton with the engine running okay, Paul put it through its paces running at 600, 700, and 800 revs and it never failed us, so your guess is as good as mine as to what the problem was. May be a bit of air left in the system who knows.
Paul had rung Beta first thing to let them know about the filter housing. They are going to make sure each housing is checked as it goes on an engine.
We are now moored up behind Del and Al, the journey from Rugby to here took us nearly 3 hours not bad for a 40 minute trip. Hopefully it will be on to Braunston tomorrow with no mishaps.
Thanks Al and Del for a lovely evening look forward to reciprocating when we get to Braunston. BRING IT ON.

Like I said yesterday - you are not going to feel completely confident for ages.
I hardly dare open your Blog at the moment!

We have a BD3 and when we first had it I got caught out and lost the engine between the two Glascote locks. This was due to dropping to tick over, selecting reverse gear and a large load going on the alternator all at the same time. I had to raise the tickover RPM by a smidgen to stop it happening again.
