Walk on Cannock Chase.

Today Betty and I went exploring to see if we could get up onto Cannock Chase. It was a lot easier than we thought, just come off the tow path at b72 turn left down to the main road and there is a sign post opposite taking you into the car park and up on to “The Chase”.

We passed this little beauty.

The River Trent.

Unusual bridge over the river, you can just see the places pedestrians can pop into when a car comes along.

There were a few cars in the car park and we then had a dilemma, which route should  we take. Well we plumped for the most obvious and just went straight ahead along a nice path, there are posts with route numbers on so in theory you shouldn't get lost but there were lots of interesting path off the main route but we were that confident to go off exploring. These are the pictures I took.

We did disturb a buzzard but other than two dog walkers that is all the life we saw. If I can gee Paul up enough I think we will take the dogs up there.

Oh yes when I was in bed last night and Paul was fishing this is what he caught.

and as I write this he has caught a humungous fish  a hire boat stopped while he reeled it in no doubt it will be on here tomorrow, bet you cant wait!!!!!!!

We love walking up on the Chase but it is SO easy to get lost up there! You can get a free visitor map from TIC's which does help. Did you come across the Stepping Stones? xxoo

Hi Lynne
The chase is a nice place to walk. The Shug hall is interesting tell Paul as like him i hate the houses. The hal has an interesting carriage exhibition and the kitchens as they were are open plus the farm buildings and watermill and walled garden. You can do the house while he goes back to the boat.
