Up with the lark.

Who would have thought it we were up and on the move by 8am this morning. We had a fairly busy day yesterday going to the bank and getting the last bit of shopping then relaxing on the tow path. It has been so warm overnight that we have been awake early. So we had breakfast and set off while it was relatively cool.

It was so nice to be the only ones about and lucky for us the first three locks were in our favour then after that we met people coming down so it worked out fine. We did pull over so Paul could nip to Midland Chandlers and it was a quick nip too as he only spent £6. At Penkridge lock we managed to get on the water point then it was up Filance lock and onto the mooring. Betty and Graham left after us and had decided they would prefer to moor below Penkridge lock so we got a call about 2 inviting us for coffee, it was so humid that we took a very slow walk back to join them. We met up with the lady off of nb Free Spirit who said she read our blog as I have said before it is nice to meet fellow bloggers.

So here we are, as I write Paul is fishing the dogs are suffering a bit so I have decided to give them both a bath tomorrow, well it wont be a bath as we don't have one, it will be a swill down on the tow path, but looking at the weather forecast that job may have to wait.

Oh yes forgot to mention that where we were moored at Radford Bank there was a family of mink opposite and one of the adults caught a rat and took it back to its nest (or what ever the term is for their home) ratty was squealing but was no match for the mink so he was tea for babies I presume.  And Paul rescued a bat from the canal and put it up a tree to dry out when we checked about an hour later it had gone hopefully higher up the tree out of harms way. Looking forward to Penkridge market on Saturday, dogs need new beds and I am sure there is something else we will pick up that we didn't know we wanted……..
