Yesterday Paul and Liam installed the wiring boards to the outer roof sections and the extended wiring was placed in the hangers to the position of the 12v consumer unit. The 24ov extended
cables were also run in to their new position. Again more measurements were taken and datum points put on the base plate so that everything should line up.The engine was then slid back on rollers onto the new floor section so that the engine steel work could be welded in. Before leaving the yard last night Paul and the steel man discussed measurements for the position of the steel engine bearers.
On arriving at the yard this morning the engine bearer module was nearly completed. A cross bearer was partly removed to allow the module to be welded to the base plate of the boat.
After more discussions the engine bearers were welded in??????
As soon as the welding was completed and before the steel work was cool Paul was in there brush in hand and a tin of red oxide and gave it 2 coats as this will be inaccessible once the engine is in position.
Here is where foreword planning comes together (hopefully). After struggling with 3 man and a donkey the crane lifted the engine up in the air so that the oak bearers could be drilled into the steel work.
However they did find a discrepancy of measurement so minor alterations had to be made to the wooden bearers but after much huffing, puffing, swearing, pushing and shoving they got the bloody thing to fit.
The washing machine was put in its position and the gap is more than initially thought. Pauls attitude was “that is where it is staying I am not moving it any more”
The new hatch was also fitted to the sliders today and it will be finished off tomorrow.
Word of warning……………. if you are of a nervous disposition DO NOT have your boat stretched!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
