Yesterday yet another boat came up through the lock so now there are 4 boats in the pound, 1 has a problem and awaiting repair yesterdays boat is a trip boat (why didn't he know the lock was shut) so the people just decamped and walked to wherever.
Today Heather and Paul asked if we wanted to go for a walk well my Paul doesn't do walking just for the sake of it so it was just me and them. We set off around 1pm Paul wanted to go to the windmill in Ivinghoe as the day was still overcast it was a pleasant day for walking we had to leave the towpath and walk the road for a way which was a bit scary as there was no path. The village when we got there was like turning back time very sleepy with lovely old houses we passed a water mill which is only open to the public in the summer and opposite was a small farm shop where Heather bought eggs and bread. We came across a lovely restaurant just by looking at the cars parked outside you knew that the prices would be a bit steep. On consulting the menu they weren't just steep, calves liver and onions was £39.50 sirloin steak £50 yes the place looked lovely and I'm sure the food was out of this world but I couldn't ever justify spending that sort of money on a meal out. (Sunday lunch was £39.50). We carried on walking to the windmill which was situated in the middle of a field, open to the public on Sundays. The surrounding view was spectacular the walk was well worth it, all in all we were out for 2 hours which broke the day up and gave me a bit of exercise.
Looks like the lock is finished the workmen have packed up and gone the boards have been taken out and the lock is full up. The gates need to be painted but will that be done at a later date? I assume so. The workman have moved on to lock 37 that was having brickwork repairs so tomorrow we are going to leave this pound and hope that by the time we get to 37 it will be finished and operational.
My Paul has a touch of man flu so while I was out walking he has set up his playstation so it looks like I will be watching my programmes in the bedroom as once he starts with the playstation that's it, trouble is he has been known to throw the controller in a fit of temper and we don't have the space for him to chuck a wobbly my nic naks are too precious to be in the firing line so he is going to have to control himself.
