We left the mooring in Atherstone this morning, it took a bit of a while to get going as we were sat on the bottom the water level was really low about 9inches down on the norm. It was absolutely freezing I even put a scarf on. Only saw about three boats coming in the opposite direction. We had to stop at Springhaven and on the wharf was nb Libertybelle we haven't seen Angela and Trevor to talk to for a couple of years so it was nice to catch up. Paul popped into the shop to ask the price of their diesel and was told £1.01 per litre “that's expensive” says Paul “I wont be buying any”. We did get 2 bags of coal though and Kevin did what he had to and then we were on our way again.
Only managed to travel for about 10 minutes when the heavens opened and the wind got up so we pulled over, moored up and lit the fire. Its nice and cosy now.
Caxton went by and Paul (not mine) remarked that he was freezing or words to that effect, Elaine was on the tow path walking the dog to keep warm I think.
As the evening has progressed the wind has dropped so Paul is going to attempt to catch some fish.
