Fenny Compton and beyond!

Yesterday we left a packed Cropredy to continue our journey, the wind had got up a bit and it was markedly cooler so it was winter coats back on. Luckily for us there was a lot of traffic heading in the opposite direction so Claydon locks worked in our favour with queues of boat coming down and just us going up.

We had a nice long chat to Ian and Alison (Gosty Hill) when we came to their home mooring wont be seeing them again until they are back on the cut in August, hate to think what the price of diesel will be then!!!

As we approached Fenny Compton we saw the swans had made their nest on the tow path again by the marina so there is a detour through the marina to avoid them. We moored up around 1.30 it was a joint decision to hit the pub for our evening meal, didn't quite make it while at Cropredy. We didn't leave it too late before wandering up to the Wharf Inn had two meals for a tenner and couldn't even manage a pud we were stuffed.

Getting closer.

Here we are.

Only a couple of miles to bridge 130 where we plan to stay until Tuesday. Navigating through the really tight bridge 131 quick blast on the horn and as we came through a hire boat had pulled in to let us pass.

It is easier going North than South.

I shall watch some of “the wedding” tomorrow just to see what the frocks are like. Paul no doubt will busy himself doing something else. He struggled enough getting to our wedding so there is no way he will be watching a royal one.
